Padstow harbour, Cornwall

5"x7" Lumocolour pencils and pen on smooth paper

This is the place made famous in recent years by the presence of several restaurants owned by the celebrity chef, Rick Stein. The place was sunny and crowded with tourists like us, and every one of them seemed to have their faces buried in an ice cream. Very disappointing. So to console ourselves we bought ice creams. And I did this sketch before we made a hasty escape to find more unspoilt places.

  1. Noel, I have been scanning through your recent blogs. I really like the immediacy of your sketches and your paintings are powerful and quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I have visited England but have not been to Cornwall. You communicate the scenery, buildings, and atmoshere very well. I wish I were there.
