Road to Swavesey

Oil 11"x8"

I was on my way to Swavesey  late Tuesday afternoon and this big cloud with the sun behind it presented itself so dramatically – particularly with the farm buildings on the horzon – that I had to pull off the road to paint it. Good job I always have my pochade box with me. I have just noticed that this is the third painting in a row I’ve done with a road or path leading into the distance.

I tried to follow what Carole Marine said recently she tried to do with one of her classes – get her “kids” as she calls them  to count the number of strokes they apply to the canvas. The idea is to make each application of paint count. I like that idea. Excellent.
