Life Class 4

Oil 16"x12"

This was a 20 minute pose. The background fireplace was an attractive feature that could not be left out of the overall composition. I’m pleased with this one. Of course I still didn’t hae enough time, but I concentrated on two things. First, getting the overall shape and proportion of the figure about right. Second getting the broad skin colouration right. Noses and ears are always warmer than other parts of the face (apart from lips) Similarly hands, feet and heads are usually warmer than the rest of the body. I hope to get back to this class in a couple of weeks time.

I painted the figure first and then cut the foreground and background  features in with very diluted paint for the sake of speed.
