Camelias 3

Camelias. Oil on canvas

I’m enjoying this. The blooms are not an even pink at all. There is purple, almost white where the sun catches, and then red where the light shines  through the petals. I want to avoid painting each flower, whilst making each one individual if that makes sense. I’ve painted round the plant with the the negative shape of the background which in fact is a pale cream stucco in shadow. It looks too even at the moment, but there are batons on the wall which I’ll add tomorrow.

  1. like the lighting and use of colours/ textures to subtly demonstrate 🙂

  2. I shall be interested to see if you can maintain the freshness and contrast of the first one.
    Cheers,
