St. Emilion, France

Oils on board 8"x12"

In a flat landscape St. Emilion is a  surprise, perched on steep slopes. This was a dramatic viewpoint down into the square, and had the added benefit that I could rest my pochade box on a wall and in the shade to boot. There was also a brisk wind which would have easily tipped it over the edge to a 100 foot drop. So I had to hang on to the box all the time. I finished this off back at home. I’m pleased with this one.
