Feeding time at Welney wildfowl reserve

There was an almost mesmeric rhythm to the motion of the sparkling water and a larger number of birds, mostly Pochard, bobbing around. They created a pattern that was almost abstract. That aspect is not shown in this watercolour sketch, but the photograph below does illustrate what I mean. It could almost be a wallpaper pattern:
